Randalls Jewellers has been named the judges’ choice in this year’s competition to find Altrincham’s favourite Winter Window – now it’s your turn to pick your favourite.

An incredible 45 shops and businesses have entered this year’s competition, which is organised by Altrincham BID, who produce VisitAltrincham.com.

Judges Ruth Fildes and Liv Alice, who were two of the artists who decorated Corgis for the ‘Trooping the Corgis’ project in June, toured the town yesterday and selected Randalls Jewellers as their overall winner.

They also wanted to give a special mention to runners-up Heritage Healthcare, Bumkins Designer Kids and Ferrious.

Ruth and Liv explained: “The window at Randalls had a huge impact even from a distance with their wonderful handmade Santa.

“It was clear that a lot of time, effort and technical skill had gone into creating Santa by Jamie from JM Puppets, resident model and puppet maker at Art with a Heart.

“We wanted to also give a special mention to Heritage Healthcare who had sourced all their trees from local charity shops but particularly for the beautifully created hand-drawn illustrations.

“Another close runner-up was Ferrious with their very sophisticated and naturally simple display of sprayed trees.

“We also wanted to give Bumkins Designer Kids a special mention for their vibrant and colourful display which filled the whole window and is very striking.”

Now it’s time for you to vote for your favourite – head over to the Altrincham Today Facebook page and see all 45 windows.

Simply ‘like’ your favourite to register your vote, with the winner of this part of the competition announced next week.

Kate Gerbich, from Altrincham BID, said: “We’d like to say a huge thank you to all the businesses who have taken part in this year’s competition.

“The entries are so varied, from the sophistication of Tile by Tile, Love Bridal and Ginkgo, to the more traditional windows of Laundry B, Revive and Homebird Interiors, and the simplicity of Bernie’s Grocery Store’s display of stacked crates.

“The delightful winter village at Optieye Care, and the windows with a community theme like Full Circle Funerals Partners who have highlighted the Twiddlemuffs project. There are also many painted windows including MOST Bakery and Off the Wheaten Track, and those with incredible wow factor like The Con Club and Hill and Hill the Jewellers!

“The town is looking incredible, and it’s more important than ever this Christmas to shop local. There is so much on offer in our town including the award-winning Altrincham Market and Market House, a fabulous selection of independent shops and high street favourites, as well as an outstanding selection of restaurants, coffee shops and bars.

“The Christmas lights and Christmas windows make the town look wonderfully festive and we would encourage everyone to celebrate Christmas in Altrincham.”
