The Con Club is behind a new venture that will see local food and drink traders operate from shipping containers in the centre of Altrincham.

An area next to the Everyman Cinema on Central Way is being transformed into a “thriving community space”, to be known as One Central.

Initially traders will provide takeaway and delivery services, with plans for an official launch next month assuming restrictions are lifted.

The first businesses to be confirmed are Choza, which will be offering South American and European dishes, and Tatton Perk coffee. More businesses are set to be revealed soon.

The new area will also feature a heated outdoor terrace and a giant disco ball.

David Vanderhook, owner and founder of Altrincham restaurant The Con Club which is behind One Central, said: “It’s been an incredibly tough year for hospitality, more now that ever it’s important that we radiate community spirit through a joint passion for food and drink.

“We want to champion smaller operators and independents that have a fantastic product to preview, but no platform to do so. We co-founded takeaway UNAGI street food on the cusp of the first lockdown, trading from a small area on Central Way and the response was incredible.

“We’ve since established a loyal following and we want other local traders to have that opportunity without the worry of extortionate rent and rates!!”
