An artisan bakery that makes indulgent, handmade brioche doughnuts has launched a delivery service to Altrincham.
D G H N T was set up in lockdown by Sulin Baldwin, a 28-year-old former chef at Fin fish bar in Mackie Mayor, in the Northern Quarter.
After successfully building a customer base in Manchester city centre, the former Altrincham Grammar pupil is now branching out to her home town – with the first delivery run this weekend.
Baldwin, who worked as a paralegal before embarking on a career in hospitality at Fin, said the company’s formation came about by accident.
“I had meant to go to Thailand to do a month’s cooking course but it was cancelled by the pandemic,” she said.
“Then it was my friend’s birthday and she said she would like doughnuts, so I started baking some and the idea developed from there.”
All D G H N T’s “very rich” doughnuts are made from brioche bread and come in a variety of indulgent, ever-changing flavours including pecan pie, apple pie, dark chocolate sumac, baklava and a raspberry pistachio pavlova.
Baldwin explained the process behind their creation: “I do the dough and leave it overnight, then roll it out in the morning and prove it again. Then I fry and glaze them and add the toppings, which are always completely fresh.”
She has been selling mainly through Instagram so far but the “really good” reaction has convinced her to expand.
Orders can be made directly through Instagram here.
