A new independent cocktail bar and live music venue is set to open in Altrincham next month.
Prana will be opening in the two-floor Ashley Road unit last occupied by Sicilian restaurant Sardus and before that Bem Brasil.
The company behind the new launch opened its first bar, Amp, in Stockport earlier this year.
General manager Tom Burns told us the vacant unit had been completely renovated and was now a "really beautiful" bar.
Prana - which translates from Sanskrit as “life force energy” - will also boast a live music stage on the ground floor with a view to hosting acoustic sets, jazz bands and DJ sets on several nights of the week.
Burns, formerly the assistant bar manager at The Con Club, is himself a musician and is guitarist in a band called The Perps.
He said he had jumped at the chance to be involved in a new bar launch in Altrincham that had a real focus on live music.
"We have a proper stage with state-of-the-art equipment - we'll be one of the few places where you can see live music in Altrincham," said Tom.
Prana is aiming for a mid-October launch, initially just as a bar and music venue, but is looking to add a first-floor restaurant soon serving a selection of small plates as well as coffee and brunch. Upstairs will also serve as an events space.
The bar will be cocktail-led but will also serve a range of beers, wine and other drinks, as well as smoothies and healthier juices earlier in the day.
