A Pan-Asian street food business that started life as food truck during lockdown is to open a dine-in restaurant in Altrincham.
Named after the Japanese word for freshwater eel, Unagi originally opened in a silver truck on Central Way in 2020.
Despite the disruption caused by the Covid lockdowns, Unagi built a loyal local following for its sushi and Pan-Asian dishes.
They went on to join the One Central food and drink hub in August 2022 and the business spread to Wilmslow, Didsbury, MediaCity and Cheetham Hill.
But on Wednesday October 25th it will be opening in a stunning new purpose-built location just yards from where One Central had been located.
With Japanese inspired cocktails and lighting reminiscent of a colourful evening in Tokyo, Unagi is promising a "whole new Unagi dining experience".
Diners can also expect favourites including chicken katsu curry and bang bang wings alongside a number of brand new dishes including ramen, bao buns and Japanese-inspired soft serve dessert.
The new restaurant has pedigree backing in the shape of David Vanderhook, co-owner of Altrincham success story The Con Club.
He said: "We can’t wait to be back in Altrincham where this all started!
"The project has taken much longer than we planned, but the anticipation and support of the local community has been incredible. We’re looking forward to finally opening our doors to our customers old and new.”
Unagi’s Altrincham restaurant will be open from Wednesday to Sunday for seated diners, and seven days a week for takeaways and Deliveroo.
