Sir Alex Ferguson is to officially open the new £750,000 Community Sports Hall at Altrincham FC.
The former Manchester United manager will attend a ceremony at the new facility on Monday February 9th.
Ferguson, a regular visitor to Moss Lane when United’s reserves used to play their home games at the ground, will be welcomed by chairman Grahame Rowley with the official ribbon-cutting taking place at 1.45pm.
The sports hall opened for business in December with general manager Stacey Rowley reporting that interest had already been “unbelievable”.
Activities already confirmed to occupy the hall are yoga, Timperley ABC Boxing, scouts and cubs, fitness classes, Slimming World, karate and baby massage.
Around £550,000 for the new facility was secured through grants, but the rest has been raised by the community with a wide range of fundraising activities. Although construction is now complete, a further £63,000 still needs to be raised to cover the cost.
The facility is open daily from 9am to 10pm.
