Have you ever wanted to learn to play a musical instrument? At Dawsons in Altrincham on Saturday, you can make a start.
The music shop – on the corner of Stamford New Road and Cross Street – is hosting a whole day of of lessons and demonstrations aimed at helping anyone of any age take their first steps in music.
It’s all part of Learn to Play Day, which was founded by UK-based charity Music For All.
Jools Holland, the charity’s patron, said: “Whether you used to play or whether you have always wanted to play… this is the day for you.
“I am delighted to help Music for All in their quest to inspire more people to participate in music making, either for the first time or to return to playing after having lapsed. I hope that my involvement will help the charity reach more people and get more people ‘having a go’.”
The Altrincham branch is one or several Dawsons branches around the country taking part, as well as many other music shops and schools.
It’s hosting 1-2-1 lessons on the day for piano, drums and guitar. To book a slot, pop in the store or call them on 0161 928 3302.
Store manager Stuart Marshall said he hoped the event would “offer those who were either too nervous to try or never had the chance of picking something up the opportunity to realise what might have been a long held but unfulfilled ambition”.
