Altrincham Kersal are expecting a bumper crowd at Stelfox Avenue tomorrow when a win against second-placed Liverpool St Helens will guarantee them an instant return to North West 1.
The Timperley-based club have enjoyed a superb season after suffering relegation last year, winning 21 of their 23 games and enjoying a flawless 11-out-of-11 success rate at home.
They sit seven points clear at the top of South Lancs/Cheshire Division One, so a five-point win against LSH, the only team who could catch them, will assure them promotion with two games of the season still to play.
It’s unlikely to be straightforward though – Kersal lost the return fixture at LSH in November and the visitors tomorrow will know that a victory would take the title run right down to the wire.

Full-back JP Singleton said: “It’s our biggest game in five years. We need to get back up to North West 1, so Saturday is massive.
“It’s quite apt that it’s against LSH – they’ve been our nemesis for the last 10 years so it’s a bit of a grudge match. There’ll certainly be some needle out there.”
Anyone can go down to watch the 3pm kick-off – and it’s free. There will also be a BBQ and an open bar.
