A man has been jailed for five years after pleading guilty to a series of indecent assaults against a girl he babysat in the Altrincham area nearly 30 years ago.
Dennis Fenton, 65, from Middleton, was sentenced at Minshull Street Crown Court for the offences which occurred between January 1st 1986 and December 31st 1987.
During that time, Fenton indecently assaulted the girl – who was 14 years old at the time – while he babysat her.

Detective Constable Nicola Graham said: “Fenton not only betrayed the trust of the parents of the victim but he betrayed the trust of someone he should have been making sure was safe. He took advantage of a young girl who has lived with what happened to her for many years.
“Thankfully she took the very brave step of contacting police so we could launch an investigation and ensure Fenton paid for his crimes.
“This case highlights no matter how long ago the offence took place and when the report is made, those responsible for spreading misery will be caught and brought to justice.”
