Developers are looking to build 14 apartments on a disused site within the Goose Green Conservation Area that has not been used since 2006.
Paul Butler Associates, acting on behalf of Ludstone Developments, has submitted plans to Trafford Council for a scheme “of high design quality”, comprising 14 one-bedroom apartments.
The existing buildings, which were constructed in the early 1900s and initially used as a workshop before latterly housing a car valeting business, will be demolished to make way for the development as they are in “an advanced state of disrepair”.

The five-storey building, on Back Grafton Street and a few yards from the Goose Green square, would bring further residential space to the town centre with other schemes – on Stamford New Road and George Street – also in the works.
Planning was in fact given for a nine-apartment scheme on the site in 2007, as well as a car park, but it never came to fruition and the permission expired.
The new scheme will have no parking allocation, with the application claiming that due to its “highly accessible location… it is not considered necessary to provide car parking”.

One cycle parking space will however be provided for each apartment, which will also comprise an entrance lobby, open plan living room/kitchen/dining room, bedroom and bathroom.
A final decision on the scheme is expected in a few weeks.
