The owner of Little Italy in Timperley said he was “thankful” after his restaurant became one of only a select few in Altrincham to be awarded a Certificate Of Excellence by TripAdvisor.
The family-run eaterie on Stockport Road has built up a fine reputation in the eight years since owner Sam Cauchi took it on – and he’ll be staying a lot longer after recently agreeing a 15-year extension to its lease, as well as building a new kitchen and extension.
And Cauchi said he was proud to receive the award, which is given to establishments that consistently achieve outstanding reviews on the world’s best-read travel site.
He said: “It means a lot for me and is good for the business. We started here from scratch and have done very well. I’m very glad that people support us, I’m thankful for that.

“In the morning the first thing I do is look at TripAdvisor to see where we are. I’m proud of it, we work hard and I hope people appreciate it – we appreciate the people coming here.”
Also awarded the Certificate in Altrincham were Oxford Road Cafe, Pitta Crepe, Phanthong, Essence, Yara, Coco’s, Gonbay, Blue Dog Bar, The Romper and Oriental Fire.
