The Post Office says it is attempting to restore services to Timperley “as soon as possible” after yesterday’s attempted robbery.
The Stockport Road outlet received significant internal and external damage when a gang attempted to blow up the cash machine attached to the side of the building.
The robbery was unsuccessful but one staff worker who had seen the inside of the post office said it looked as though “a bomb had gone off”, and it remains closed today.

The Post Office’s head office in London has been unable to provide an exact reopening date, but a spokesperson told us: “The people who run our Post Office branches provide important services to local communities.
“Any burglary or attempted burglary is not only disturbing for those involved but is also an attack on the local community and we would like to reassure customers that we are trying to find a way to restore services to the area as soon as possible.”
We’ll provide an update as to a confirmed opening date as soon as we get it.
