Altrincham FC secured a creditable 1-1 pre-season draw against Wigan Athletic last night – but it was the actions of a young fan that stole the show.
Latics defender James Tavernier was lining up a corner at Moss Lane when the cheeky lad ran on to the pitch and took the set-piece himself.
In the match itself, new signing Michael Rankine equalised to give the Robins a draw after Billy McKay’s opener. Tim Deasy, also a new Robins’ signing, saved a late penalty.
