Here’s an exclusive look at the new public square at the heart of plans to rejuvenate the former Altrincham General Hospital and the area around it.

The visuals form part of a two-day exhibition in Altrincham Town Hall on Friday and Saturday, when developers Citybranch will be inviting feedback from the public on its plans for the building, internally and externally.

Feedback will then inform the development of the plans before a formal planning application is made, so the visuals seen here are still subject to alterations.

But under the current plans, Potts Road will be pedestrianised and replaced by a paved area that will allow the covered market area to be opened up if the market owners choose to do so.

The building to the left, previously the home of Altrincham General Hospital until services transferred to the new Railway Street hospital in April, will incorporate the new, smaller Altrincham Library once the current 18,826 sq ft library on Stamford New Road closes in 2017, as well as a cafe and a pharmacy.

The other side of the building – as seen by our other photo below – will incorporate a brand new community health hub called the Altrincham Health and Wellbeing Centre, providing public health services, enhanced community facilities and GP provision. There are also plans for 100 underground visitor parking spaces.

Trafford Clinical Commissioning Group will be commissioning healthcare and wellbeing services based within the building.

A representative from Trafford CCG will be in attendance at the exhibition to answer any questions from the public regarding healthcare facilities in the Altrincham Health and Wellbeing Centre.

Citybranch, the developers behind the project, will also be in attendance to share visuals, floor plans and layouts.

The public are invited to come down to talk to both Trafford CCG and Citybranch about the plans. The exhibition will be open at the town hall on Market Street from 12-7pm tomorrow, Friday 7th August, and 10-5pm on Saturday 8th August.
