Ashley Road in Altrincham is one of the 10 best places to raise a family in the UK, new research has claimed.
The road, which straddles Hale and Altrincham and leads out to Knutsford, was listed fifth in a study that considered the family friendliness of places based on facilities, schools, green areas, crime rates and other factors.
Calculated by PropertyDetective.com, the research also took into account the needs of school-age kids and teenagers.
The North West generally fared very well in the results, with Bollington, Chorley and Delph, near Manchester, all included in the top 10 places to start a family. Higher Whitley, near Warrington, was considered the best place to raise a family.
Property Detective founder Barry Bridges said: “There is a definite North-South divide when it comes to starting or raising a family.
“For those starting a family, the North appears to be the best choice with 8 out of 10 locations North of the Midlands; for raising a family the reverse is true with 8 out of 10 of the top locations being in the South.”
