Police are continuing to hunt for absconded rapist Malcolm Millman amid unconfirmed reports he has been spotted in Altrincham.

A joint operation has been launched between Thames Valley Police and Greater Manchester Police as the hunt for Millman, who was convicted of rape in 1996 and is said to pose a specific risk to women and girls, goes on.

Officers were today out in force across Greater Manchester – including Altrincham – with all divisions instructed to distribute ‘Wanted’ posters to pharmacies, shops and other public places, while warnings have been handed out to schools in the area.

At the moment, neither Thames Valley Police nor Greater Manchester Police can confirm whether Millman has been sighted in Altrincham.

However, the considerable police presence in the area would suggest that officers believe there is a good chance that 58-year-old Millman is in Greater Manchester.

And the last official sighting of Millman – who also goes by the names Richard Simon Barber, Michael Geoffrey Newman and and Raymond Pilkington – was at Manchester Airport train station on Monday October 26th at around 12.30pm. He is not believed to have boarded a plane and he does not have a passport.

Millman absconded during a day visit to a monastery in Hemel Hempstead at about 2pm on Saturday October 24th.

He failed to return to Chadwick Lodge, a secure facility in Milton Keynes, and has since withdrawn a large amount from cash points and been seen using public transport.

He is white, of large build, bald with thinning brown hair on the sides, and brown eyes.

He was last seen wearing a brown jacket, purple jumper, grey tracksuit bottoms and blue and white trainers. He also uses a walking stick.

Millman has medical conditions including a heart condition and diabetes so he may be seeking medication.
