Thieves used a car in an attempted raid on Booths supermarket in Hale Barns in the early hours of this morning.
A blue Ford was found embedded in a side window following the incident, which happened at 1.34am on Monday.
Police say that two vehicles – a white Transit van and a red VW Golf – were used by the offenders to escape.
No arrests have yet been made and nothing is thought to have been stolen, a GMP spokesperson added.

The damage to the 30,000 sq ft supermarket – which opened in April as the centrepiece of the new Hale Barns Square – meant that it was closed all day Monday, but it’s expected to reopen again tomorrow.
A statement from the retailer said: “The Booths Hale Barns store will be closed today, 9th of November as the business makes necessary safety and structural repairs following an attempted break in.
“The Booths café will be open for business today. Police are investigating the incident and Booths are unable to comment further as investigations are ongoing.
“Booths apologise for any inconvenience to customers and anticipate the store will return to regular opening hours tomorrow.”
