Altrincham animation company Factory has won a Children’s BAFTA for its work on Clangers.
The company, based on the Altrincham Business Park in Broadheath, won the Pre-School Animation category at the prestigious ceremony, held in London on Sunday night.
Managing director Phil Chalk said that the team at Factory, which is also behind other children’s favourites such as Raa Raa The Noisy Lion, Roary the Racing Car and Strange Hill High, was “thrilled” to have been recognised.
He added: “It is testament to the love and dedication shown by our wonderfully talented crew who have helped reimagine this iconic series for a new generation.
“Thanks must also go to CBeebies, to Coolabi and Smallfilms for giving us the opportunity to work on such a much-loved show.”
The company’s inauspicious base houses the beautifully realised sets that comprise Planet Clangers, alongside a stack of start-of-the-art technology and a team of expert animators.
The original series, created by Oliver Postgate and Peter Firmin, was first aired in 1969, and Firmin has been involved in the programme’s revival.
