Jonathan Bruton, 25, of Dee Avenue, pleaded guilty to attempted burglary, six counts of theft and 14 counts of handling stolen goods.

Operation Ingot had been set up to catch the gang and after a long-running investigation, a series of warrants were executed across Manchester in March last year.

Officers also seized stolen property worth £246,000, including cars, watches and a mobility scooter.

In total the gang received sentences of 45 years and a number of assets were recovered under the Proceeds of Crime Act.

Chief Inspector Derek Hewitt, of Wythenshawe Integrated Neighbourhood Team, said: “This has been a committed and lengthy operation to disrupt this organised criminal network and it has finally come to fruition.

“The group were responsible for 49 crimes, including burglaries, ram raids and the supply of drugs.

“I hope these sentencings show those who have been victims of this OCG [organised crime gang] that we will use every available means to disrupt and dismantle these organised criminal networks.

Police, along with our partners, have worked tirelessly on this operation to stamp out the organised crime that was corroding the community.

“We know that the answers to tackling organised crime lie in the communities where these people operate, so I would continue to ask residents to take a stand with us and together we can bring about real change. I want to give communities the confidence that we will take action and dismantle these criminal networks.”
