Former England international Emile Heskey was on hand to present not one but two league titles to Broadheath Primary School.
The boys’ football team won the Altrincham Schools League Championship after a 16-year spell without a trophy, eventually triumphing after a tense top-of-the-league clash against Bollin Primary.
And not to be outdone, the girls’ team won the Altrincham Indoor Championship, beating Navigation Primary 4-2 in the final at Altrincham Leisure Centre.
To mark the double success, teacher Jack Bird and league organiser Nick Liddell arranged a special presentation with former Liverpool striker Heskey, who presented each player with a personally signed medal and individual trophy and then presented each team with the championship trophies, which will now go on display in school.
The pupils from Key Stage 2 also had the opportunity to take part in a question and answer session with the former pro.
Headteacher, Mrs Lyde, said: “It has been a magical season and we are all incredibly proud of our teams. It just shows what self-belief and hard work can achieve!”
