Police are appealing for anyone with dashcam footage of Saturday’s fatal road accident on Manchester Road to come forward.
A nine-year-old girl was tragically killed in the incident, which happened when a black Toyota Auris smashed into a brick wall by an apartment block at the junction with Stamford Brook Road.
The girl’s 11-year-old sister and 41-year-old father were seriously injured in the crash, and police say the driver’s injuries have so far prevented him from providing a full account of what happened.
A spokeswoman for Greater Manchester Police said that its Serious Collision Investigation Unit was still trying to establish the cause of the crash.
She said: “The Serious Collision Investigation Unit are undertaking a rigorous and comprehensive investigation into the circumstances of the collision to enable them to provide a full account to the family and ultimately to the Coroner.
“All aspects of the condition of the vehicle and the standard of driving will be considered as part of the investigation.
“We are still appealing to anyone who may have seen the collision to get in touch, we are particularly interested to hear from anyone who may have any dash cam footage that could help with our investigation.”
Police were called to the incident shortly after 10.50am on Saturday, when it’s likely that many other cars will have been around at the time.
