Police investigating the crash which killed a nine-year-old girl in Altrincham on Saturday have issued images of potential witnesses they would like to speak to.
A nine-year-old girl was tragically killed in the incident, which happened when a black Toyota Auris smashed into a brick wall by an apartment block at the junction with Stamford Brook Road.
The girl’s 11-year-old sister remains in a serious condition, but the girls’ 45-year-old father, who was seriously injured, is now stable and recovering.
Police have now issued two CCTV images showing a silver/grey coloured Citroen C3 and a dark coloured Range Rover Evoque who they hope may be able to provide vital information into how the collision happened.
Sergeant Brian Orr from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said: “We don’t believe the drivers of these vehicles have done anything wrong or were involved in the collision but they were in the area and may have vital information about how the collision happened.
“This is a tragic situation and we are still investigating all possibilities. We are appealing for any drivers who saw the black Toyota Auris to contact police. In particular, we are appealing for anyone who may have dashcam footage to come forward.
“My heart goes out to the family, this is such a tragic situation.
“The driver is now recovering in hospital, he has been spoken to by police and is helping with the investigation.
“His 11-year-old daughter is still in a serious condition in hospital.
“We would like to thank the public for their overwhelming support with this investigation so far.
“We will not stop until we can find the reason that this poor young girl lost her life.”
