The driver of a car involved in a collision on the A56 involving a young woman yesterday has come forward, after initially failing to stop at the scene.
A 32-year-old was left with bruising and injuries to her ribs in the collision with a red Peugeot 207 by the traffic lights close to the Washway Road junction with The Drive.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 3.30pm, but the driver of the car involved in the incident had left the scene.
However, it’s understood that the driver subsequently made himself known and was spoken to by police.
He has been reported for failure to drive with due care and attention and failing to stop after a collision. He will be summonsed at a later date.
It’s understood that footage of the incident was captured on CCTV cameras at the Co-op – which only opened last Thursday after relocating from its former store across the road – only yards from the scene.
The incident happened just 500 yards from an accident on Manchester Road on Monday evening which claimed the life of 25-year-old Helena Thurm.
The road was eventually reopened at 4.45pm.
