Man dies after car crashes into garden on Stamford Brook estate in Altrincham

A man has died after crashing his car on the Stamford Brook estate in Altrincham this afternoon. A man has died after crashing his car on the Stamford Brook estate in Altrincham this afternoon.

The 53-year-old man crashed a black Peugeot 107 through a hedge and into the garden of a property close to a roundabout between Turnbull Road and Stamford Brook Road.

Police attended but the driver died at the scene. It’s thought he may have suffered a heart attack or other sudden illness.

There were no other injuries or vehicles involved.

Police, who were called to the scene at 1.25pm this afternoon, are in the process of informing the man’s next of kin.

Numerous emergency services vehicles attended the scene but the road has now reopened.

PC Phil Turley, from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “My thoughts are with the man’s family at this incredibly sad time.

“An investigation is now ongoing, and we are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the crash or have any dash-cam footage to get in touch with police.”
