A 17-year-old male was attacked and forced to withdraw a substantial amount of money from a Timperley ATM machine during an unprovoked attack on Wednesday evening.
The teenager was with friends in Newton Park at around 9pm when he was approached by a large gang of males.
Police said he was then hit several times, causing minor head injuries, before being taken to the ATM machine outside the Spar on Park Road.
He was then forced to withdraw a “substantial” amount of money which was stolen.
CCTV footage of the area is currently being viewed as part of the investigation.
One of the males involved is described as white, clean shaven, small in height and build, wearing a hooded top and dark bottoms, while a second male is described as dark skinned and possibly wearing a hat or cap.
Local residents have complained of a spate of incidents around the convenience store over the summer.
