Police have issued a warning about a smart-dressed middle-aged woman targeting elderly and vulnerable people in the area.
The 51-year-old, described as black, slim and young-looking who is said to dress smartly, has been knocking on doors of strangers asking occupants to lend her money to get to hospital where she claims her dad is unwell.
She has then attempted to gain access and steal any valuable items within reach.
Police say she has recently knocked on doors of care homes or supported housing, posing as a friend of occupants or staff and asking to use the toilet.
She has also posed as a social services or housing officer, often with a fake lanyard. Once inside she has then carried out thefts.
