A Hale-based organic superfood company is behind plans to open a “healthy eater’s dream” on the site of the former Yorkshire Bank in Altrincham town centre.
Rob Lee, business partner Daniel Furness and Rob’s sister Emma have joined forces on an application to open EAT:kaizen Health & Protein Kitchen in a Stamford New Road unit which has been vacant since Yorkshire Bank closed its Altrincham branch in September 2015.
If approved, the venue would offer seating for 80 people with an al fresco area close to the entrance to the former Graftons shopping centre. Its targeting a launch date of mid to late November.
EAT:kaizen will offer many of the products currently offered online – as well as through retailers including Harvey Nichols – by Rob’s company Kaizen Living.
He told us what customers could expect should it all get the green light.

“We believe that EAT:kaizen Health & Protein Kitchen is going to be a healthy eater’s dream,” said Rob.
“As our name suggests, we will be serving healthy meals with a section of our menu dedicated to lean protein. We will open from 8am – 8pm on weekdays with slightly shorter hours at the weekend.
“Our menu will feature the very best build-your-own Protein Boxes, superfood salads, smoothies, juices, a special children’s menu, healthy breakfasts, lots of vegan and vegetarian options, a large grab & go refrigerated section, exciting healthy retail products… oh and not to forget our signature 32-ounce Primal Tomahawk Steak… it’s a protein-packed BEAST!”

He said that Altrincham was the “perfect location” for the first EAT:kaizen.
“We know the area really well and it’s such a fitness orientated town with the likes of Total Fitness, Pure Gym and the leisure centre all within a five-minute walk of our site,” he said.
“Combine that with the regeneration of the town centre and all the exciting developments that are on-going and planned over the next couple of years, it really was a no-brainer that our first site should be based in Altrincham. There’s a real buzz around the town at the moment and we hope that we can really add to that.”
He said business partner Dan was a “real health and fitness freak” and a regular at Hale Country Club, and had a deep knowledge of nutrition and diet plans. Rob’s sister Emma, a former deputy head at a primary school, has a particular passion for making healthy meals for children.
