Shelagh Everett, chair of the hockey club at Timperley Sports Club, has been named ‘Unsung Hero of the Year’ at the Trafford Sports Awards.
Shelagh, who won the award for her contribution to hockey at the Stockport Road club, will now go on to represent Trafford at the Greater Manchester Sports Awards.
The news is further good news for the club after its award of a £72,000 grant from Sport England to install a completely new cricket square. Spire Healthcare has also agreed to extend its sponsorship agreement with the club for a further year.
Nick Burnett, the club’s President, said: “We are thrilled that Shelagh has received this recognition as her contribution to the club is huge, she really is an unsung hero.
“It’s a great time for the club across all the sports we offer and we are excited about the future improvements which are possible as a result of the Sport England grant. Our thanks to Spire Healthcare who continue to support the club.”
Timperley Sports Club membership has now grown to over 900, with most playing either hockey, cricket, lacrosse or football.
It’s also a community hub for classes including tai chi, salsa, yoga, Weightwatchers and other organised clubs or societies. For more details about basing your group there, call 0161 980 4397 or email info@timperley-sports.com.
