Another property in Altrincham town centre is to be turned into apartments after being snapped up for £325,000.

Cheshire Urban Living, in partnership with property developer Quinta Group, has acquired the freehold of the mixed residential and retail property at 39 Stamford New Road.

The vacant property – formerly the home of Zeman Couture – comprises 3,200 sq ft over four floors.

The new owners are intending to retain the retail unit on the ground floor while converting the floors above into six apartments.

Alexander Clarke, director of Quinta Group, said: “We are in the process of submitting a planning application to convert and refurbish the building in line with the progressive views of the Altrincham Town Centre Neighbourhood Business Plan.

“The project will create six high quality living apartments with a smaller retail outlet. Our plan is to utilise underused, empty buildings in and around the town centre, which has been chosen for its location, diversity and projected growth. We are keen to purchase or jointly develop retail, office or land opportunities of any size.”

Daniel Lee, director, Regional Property Solutions, who acted for the vendor BRS Investments Ltd, said: “There is a strong demand and active sales of freehold premises in the centre of Altrincham. These are being acquired for conversion into residential/retail use under Permitted Development Rights (PDR).

“The town is certainly becoming a hotspot for town centre living, which has no doubt been influenced by the completion of the new hospital, but one that will create a more vibrant atmosphere in the town.”

A number of other properties within Altrincham are currently being converted into residential accommodation as demand for town centre living grows and retail space subsides.
