A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was allegedly punched in the face in a road-rage incident in Altrincham town centre.
The pedestrian starting arguing with a motorist over the way he was driving on Cross Street, close to the Kingfisher chip shop, yesterday afternoon at around 2pm.
An argument followed, during which the driver allegedly punched the pedestrian in the face.
A 42-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of assault, and has now been bailed.
A police spokesman said: “Police were called at about 2pm to Cross Street in Altrincham.
“There was a verbal disagreement between a pedestrian and a motorist over the manner of the motorist’s driving.
“The pedestrian has then been punched to the face.
“A 42-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and has been bailed pending further questioning.”
