Police have issued a warning to residents in the Altrincham and Bowdon area after a “spike” in vehicle crime including the theft of another high-powered car.

Intruders broke into a house on Dunham Road in Altrincham between 6pm and 10pm on Thursday February 9th.

After stealing the keys, they drove off in the householder’s white Mercedes SLK AMG Sport, registration number BIB238.

It’s the latest incident in the area to involve a high-powered car, following recent burglaries in Hale.

More cars were broken into over the weekend in the Altrincham and Bowdon area, leading to police to issue a warning including the following advice:

  • Always remember to remove all items of property when you leave your vehicle, including Sat Navs, remove their mounting cradles and wiping away any ‘sucker marks’
  • Consider leaving your glove box open to show that it is empty
  • Secure your vehicle with an immobiliser, alarm or tracking device
  • Always keep your vehicle locked, even if you only leave it for a few seconds.

Anyone with information about a crime should call police on 101 or CrimeStoppers on 0800 555 111.
