A new residential development at Goose Green in Altrincham has completed a dramatic transformation – with all but one of the apartments sold.
The Tannery, which falls within the Goose Green Conservation Area, was previously a disused garage before it was acquired by developer Novo Property Group in December 2014.
An extensive redevelopment of the site has followed, designed by Altrincham-based, award-winning architects Calderpeel and constructed by Artez, the residential and commercial specialists.
The partnership resulted in 13 highly specified and affordable apartments – ranging in size from 450 to 500 sq ft – over four floors of accommodation.
Ben Fearns, director of Novo, said: “Goose Green has undergone a remarkable regeneration in recent years, with a number of new bars, restaurants and fitness facilities, as well as the public realm improvements to the square itself.
“Designing property for an emerging market is a challenge and a risk, not simply to read what the market wants right now, but to predict and influence where it’s going. The former garage site presented this opportunity, but required a significant investment and the cooperation of the local community, not least Goose Green.
“It’s a delight to have attracted so much support and positivity, after developing this very constrained project. We’ve handed over the keys to a mix of owner-occupiers and investors, having created a great, modern heritage asset.”
It’s just the latest Altrincham residential scheme to have been worked on by Novo.
The company has recently transformed a 120-year-old former office space on Stamford New Road, with all four resulting luxury apartments snapped up by owner-occupiers.
Current other projects include 28 The Downs and 60 Stamford New Road, the latter better known as the offices above the original Dilli restaurant.
Most recently, Novo have acquired the Freehold of Greenbank House in Albert Square. The latest addition takes Novo’s commitment to the local economy to over £13m of development.
