B udget chain The Gym Group is to open its new Altrincham gym a month earlier than planned.
The chain, which is moving into the vacant unit next to the old B&Q on the Atlantic Street Retail Park, will be opening for use from midday on May 2nd.
It’s open for viewing from Saturday 15th April onwards, when members who have already signed up will be able to have an induction and view the facilities.
Viewing times will be 8am to 8pm, Monday to Friday, and 8am to 6pm, Saturday and Sunday.
We reported last April how Jump Xtreme were originally planning to open a trampoline park on the site, before pulling out.
The new 20,000 sq ft gym will create between 15 and 20 new jobs and is one of up to 20 new openings for the company this year, taking it beyond 100 UK locations.
The company recently announced that it had grown revenues by 22.6% to £73.5m in 2016, with pre-tax profits of £6.9m, and now has a total membership of 450,000.
Equipment inside the gym will include three indoor virtual bikes, 14 exercise bikes, 24 running machines, 14 cross trainers, six rowing machines, 80 strength training machines and two climbmills.
There will also be classes which can be booked online.
The Gym Group was founded by former England squash player John Treharne in 2008.
