FA Cup Final referee pays special visit to former primary school in Timperley

This year’s Emirates FA Cup Final referee paid a visit to his old Timperley primary school today.

This year’s Emirates FA Cup Final referee paid a visit to his old Timperley primary school today.

Anthony Taylor, who will be refereeing the showpiece clash between Arsenal and Chelsea at Wembley on Saturday 27th May. visited Heyes Lane Primary School.

He brought the trophy itself as a special surprise for pupils.

Talking about the visit, the 38-year-old Altrincham FC fan said: “I like to try and get back to my old school every year to help staff encourage and inspire the children to follow their dreams.

“Earlier this year when I spoke to the children I shared with them that it was my big dream was to referee the Emirates FA Cup Final and my recent appointment therefore made this trip particularly special.

“Being able to surprise them with a visit from the Emirates FA Cup trophy too, hopefully offers them further motivation to work hard to achieve things not only whilst at school but in life in general.”
