A 36-year-old man has died after a garage collapsed at a property in Hale Barns this morning.
Fire crews and paramedics were called to the house on Marlfield Road shortly before 10.20am.
It’s understood the garage collapsed while work was taking place to demolish a bungalow.
Emergency services are currently at the scene and a cordon is expected to be in place until at least 6pm.
A statement from Greater Manchester Police said: “Shortly before 10.20am on Monday 26 June 2017, police received a report that a 36-year-old man had died at a property on Marlfield Road in Hale Barns.
“A joint investigation between Greater Manchester Police and the Health and Safety Executive has been launched.
“Anyone with information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident number 693 of 26/06/17 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.”
