Exclusive: Millets returns to Altrincham with new town centre store

Millets is to open a store in Altrincham town centre, seven years after its previous store in the town closed down

Millets is to open a store in Altrincham, seven years after its previous store in the town closed down.

The outdoor retailer is to open a new store on the site of the former TSB Bank at 72 George Street, just yards from its previous home at 101 George Street.

The new opening will create up to 10 jobs.

The old Millets store closed in 2010 after the chain – owned by Blacks – was put into administration.

How the new Millets Altrincham store will look

Now owned by JD Sports and featuring over 100 branches nationwide, the “new generation” Millets store will feature a fresh store design and sell specialist clothing, footwear and camping equipment from the likes of The North Face, Berghaus and Peter Storm.

In store iPads will allow customers to shop for a larger range with home delivery or collection in store.

It will be led by store manager Ian, who will transfer from the Warrington branch after 15 years.

The store will open for business on Tuesday 15th August with an official launch weekend event on Saturday 19th August featuring family fun, competitions, giveaways and special offers.
