Loreto Grammar School girls were jumping for joy after breaking the Altrincham school’s all-time record in this summer’s GCSE examinations.
A stunning 74% of all grades were A* or A or the equivalent in the new numerical format with 94% at A* to B or the equivalent. It all meant an astonishing 52 girls, over a third of the cohort, got straight A* or A grades as the gifted girls took the tougher new grading in their stride.
Loreto Grammar School Headteacher Jane Beever said: “The governors and I want to thank all the girls and the staff for their hard work and incredible dedication during a period of great change in education.”
She added: “It is not easy to achieve this level of consistent excellence and as this year’s examinations have proved these stunning results have not been achieved through any lowering of standards but by design, dedication and an aspirational culture both in school and at home.”
