The former B&Q warehouse in the Atlantic Street Retail Park could be converted into a bowling alley, trampoline centre and retail outlet if plans are given the green light by Trafford Council.
The owner of the Broadheath development is applying to convert the 73,000 sq ft unit into “three smaller more useful parts” in order to become “more attractive to current market operators and conditions”.
Altro Holdings Ltd has marketed the former B&Q unit unsuccessfully since the DIY chain closed in September 2016, admitting it had received no interest in the site at all.
It is proposing that unit A1 is transformed into a 22-lane bowling alley with an adjoining laser game facility, with bowling centre chain Stanhope House Leisure named as the client on the planning designs.
It’s also proposing that the A2 unit remains a retail outlet aimed at carpet or bed retailers, and a third unit is converted into a trampoline centre.
A trampoline park company, Jump Xtreme, had last year secured planning permission to open next door to B&Q before pulling its plans and allowing budget gym chain The Gym Group to step in and open.
The plans would also include customer facilities including cafe and toilets, staff offices and accommodation, and 262 parking spaces.
