Here’s a first view of the luxury apartments and 300-space multi-storey car park that are set to transform a key part of Altrincham town centre.
The visuals demonstrate just how dramatically Regent Road Car Park will change under the plans, with the new development scheduled to be open by the end of 2019.
The scheme’s developers, Citybranch, hosted a display of the scheme’s design and architectural concepts at Altrincham Town Hall on Friday and Saturday.
They showed how the space of land on the corner of Regent Road and New Street – currently used as parking spaces – would be the new home for a development of luxury apartments and ground floor commercial space.
The other visuals, meanwhile, show some of the intended garden area bordering more balconied apartments, as well as a glimpse of the four-storey multi-storey that will ultimately allow for an additional 150-plus spaces compared to the current car park.
They also show that the development is set to be called Chapel Square in recognition of the fact that this was the site of Chapel Street, the “bravest little street in England”.
Earlier this year, Trafford Council announced its intention to sell Regent Road car park.
And after a tender process which saw expressions of interest invited from developers interested in working on the redevelopment of the site, it tasked Citybranch – the developer behind the plans for the former Altrincham General, as well as Hale Barns Square and the new Timperley library – with working up its scheme in more detail.
Citybrand director Adam Gross told us in March that although there would be a small number of contract parking spaces for use by the hospital and health and wellbeing centre, the new car park would be a public car park bound by the council’s borough-wide charging policies.
