Everyman submits planning application for four-screen cinema and restaurant/bar in Altrincham

Everyman has submitted a planning application to open a four-screen cinema and bar in Altrincham town centre.

Everyman has submitted a planning application to open a four-screen cinema and bar in Altrincham town centre.

The boutique cinema chain, which has 22 venues across England, is hoping to redevelop the currently vacant former JJB Sports unit at 74-88 George Street.

The application, prepared by Merepark Project Management on behalf of a company called Altrincham Regeneration LLP, requires a change of use of both the ground floor and first floor units.

The cinema’s four screens and a bar/restaurant would be located on the first floor with two retail/leisure units – spanning 4,000 sq ft and 5,000 sq ft – at ground level.

The proposed cinema would be accessible both from New Market Square and George Street, and would be the second cinema in Altrincham after Vue on Denmark Street.

Last month, Everyman said it was hoping to “create something special” in Altrincham and open in 2018.

Chief executive Crispin Lilly said: “Our focus is really on experience, from a fabulous bar and food and drink menu, including lovely wines and hand rolled pizzas, to comfy sofa seating and a great programme of film and events.

“We aim to make every guest’s visit special no matter what they choose to watch, and make them fall in love with a night at the cinema.”
