A motorcyclist is fighting for his life after colliding with a car in Altrincham last night.
Police were called to Regent Road, at the junction with Groby Road, at around 7.10pm last night.
The 50-year-old motorcyclist was riding a red Ducati Multistrada when he was involved in a collision with a red Volkswagen Touran, suffering serious head and facial injuries.
He remains in hospital and his family are by his bedside as he receives treatment.
Whilst the other driver remained at the scene, no arrests have been made and witnesses are encouraged to make contact with investigating officers.
Up to 10 police vehicles were reported as attending the scene as well as an ambulance and a fire engine from Sale station.
Police Constable Phil Shaw of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “As it was still quite early on in the evening and the weather was dry, there would have been people who witnessed exactly what happened – we need them to contact us as soon as possible.
“While this man is lying in hospital being treated by specialist medical staff, we’re continuing with our enquiries to find out exactly how he came to be in such a serious condition.
“Please, whether you witnessed it first-hand or saw either of the vehicles prior to the collision, please get in touch.”
