Altrincham Grammar School for Boys has been named the North West State Secondary School of the Year by the Sunday Times, with four Altrincham schools ranked in the top nine in the region.
The top performing schools in the country will be revealed in Parent Power, The Sunday Times Schools Guide 2019, this coming Sunday.
The 26th edition of Parent Power identifies the 2,000 highest-achieving schools in the UK, ranked by their recent examination results.
And Altrincham Grammar School for Boys has won The Sunday Times Northwest State Secondary School of the Year award. The school saw its GCSE results increase by 6.7% to 78.2% A*/A grades. Four in five A-level grades came in at either A*, A or B grades, helping the school to jump six places in the national league table, and it moved up a rank in this year’s regional table to number two as a result.
Altrincham Grammar School for Girls held on to the number one spot in the regional table, while Loreto Grammar (fifth) and St Ambrose College (ninth) completed another very impressive showing for Altrincham schools. Manchester High School for Girls has been named The Sunday Times Northwest Independent Secondary School of the Year.
