Police have released an image of a man they want to speak to in relation to an incident at an Altrincham bar which saw a man suffer serious injuries after being kicked down a flight of stairs.
The victim, a man in his 40s, was walking downstairs at Traders Tiki Bar in Goose Green at around 2.25am on Saturday 6th October when he unknowingly blocked the path of a second man who was walking upstairs.
The offender took offence and pushed him out the way. The offender then carried on walking upstairs before running back downstairs behind the victim and kicking him in the back, causing him to fall.
The victim was found by door staff at the foot of the stairs in a pool of blood having suffered serious injuries including broken ribs, a broken cheekbone and a broken eye socket.
He was taken to hospital. He has since been discharged but still requires ongoing treatment for his injuries.
Constable Lawrence Antrobus of GMP’s Trafford Division said: “This was a shocking and cowardly assault on a member of the public who was simply minding his own business.
“This attack left the victim with very serious injuries. We are thankful that he’s continuing his recovery well, but the consequences could have been much graver.
“This man had his back turned and had no means of fighting back. The kind of person who would assault a fellow member of the public in this way needs to be caught and prosecuted.
“We have now released the image of a man who we think could help us with our enquiries.
“Do you recognise him or have any information on this assault? If so – please get in touch immediately.”
