Plans have been unveiled for a new mixed-use scheme in the heart of Altrincham town centre after a 12,500 sq ft building was snapped up on George Street.

Plans have been unveiled for a new mixed-use scheme in the heart of Altrincham town centre after a 12,500 sq ft building was snapped up on George Street.

Novo Property, the developer behind a number of town centre schemes, has bought the three-storey building for an undisclosed sum from a private owner.

Part of the building is currently let to Poundland, which has a year left on its lease, and Novo – together with Project3 architects – is proposing 18 apartments on the upper floors, 5,900 sq ft of retail and a 3,000 sq ft office space on the upper ground floor, to be accessed at the rear via Central Way.

No planning application has been submitted yet for the scheme but it would be the latest Altrincham project for Novo.

Late last year, the developer saw its controversial scheme to redevelop Brown Street car park in Hale into 22 new homes and a multi-storey car park approved by Trafford Council.

It has also recently converted a historic Bowdon building into five fully renovated apartments and a new build coach house as part of a £3.5million development.

Novo is also behind the residential conversions of the former Dilli restaurant on Stamford New Road and The Tannery in Goose Green.
