A new flood warning has been issued for Timperley Brook after unprecedented levels of flooding in the Altrincham area today.
Heavy downpours have compounded the high levels from the weekend and have been causing extraordinary scenes across Altrincham and Greater Manchester as a whole.
And a new flood warning issued by the Environment Agency for Timperley Brook – and last updated at 6.26pm this afternoon – reads: “River levels are forecast to rise at the Partington river gauge as a result of heavy rainfall. We expect river levels to remain high throughout the day due to further rainfall forecast. We believe there is a possibility of flooding for Green Lane to Woodlands Rd and Canal Rd.”
It particularly highlights the area as follows: “Green Lane to Woodlands Rd and Canal Rd. Including areas around King George Fifth Pool, Woodlands Parkway, Deansgate Ln, Brentwood Ave, Newton Rd this includes Brentwood School. Also includes some properties from Manchester Rd to Chester Ave.”
Cars were stranded on roads including Wellfield Road and Thorley Lane in Hale and there were scenes of severe flooding on Delahays Road.
The flood drain on the Navigation Recreation Ground also became so full that water geysers started spurting from the ground.
