Two men have been charged with manslaughter, affray and common assault following the death of former Altrincham footballer Jordan Sinnott.
The 25-year-old was found unconscious in Market Place in Retford, Nottinghamshire, at around 2am on Saturday and died later that day.
Nottinghamshire Police have now said Cameron Matthews, 21, and Kai Denovan, 22, both from Retford, have been charged with manslaughter as well as affray and common assault.
A third man, 21-year-old Sean Nicholson, from Retford, has been charged with affray.
All three men are due to appear at Mansfield Magistrates’ Court today.
Detective Chief Inspector Rob Routledge, who is leading the investigation, said: “I would like to thank the public again for their response to our appeals and I continue to encourage anyone who saw anything on Saturday night to come forward.
“Even the smallest detail could be vital to our investigation, so please speak to us if you know something about what happened.”
Jordan, the son of former Robins manager Lee Sinnott, had been on loan at Matlock Town from Alfreton Town. He made a total of 57 appearances for the Robins between 2014 and 2016.
Since the tragic news broke on Saturday evening, the football community has rallied to donate shirts in his memory.

Clubs and stars including Steven Gerrard have since donated shirts with Jordan’s name and the number 25 on, which will be displayed at his funeral before they are donated to Sports Relief.
Jordan’s brother Tom told Radio 1 Newsbeat said he was the “best person”.
“There are not enough words to describe him really,” he said. “Out of everyone, he was the best person I ever knew. The funny thing with me and Jord is as brothers you would expect us to fight all the time, but we never had a fight, never raised voices to each other.
“I don’t think I ever heard him shout unless it was on the football pitch. There was so much love for the kid and his birthday is Valentine’s Day and that is quite apt really.”
