Role play centre Little World for Scholars is celebrating its first birthday after an “amazing” year in Altrincham town centre.
Mother and daughter team Diane Aurie and Nicola Smith opened the 1,500 sq ft venue on Stamford New Road last February and it has proved a huge hit with local families.
And now they have launched a special ‘Golden Ticket’ competition, giving customers who buy a hot drink during a play session between Monday 17th and Saturday 29th February entry to a draw to win a free annual play pass.
Little World for Scholars was a new concept for the town, targeting primarily pre-school children with miniature versions of a vets, shop, airport, a building site, garden, farmyard with tractor and a little woodland house.
“We’ve had an amazing first year,” Diane said. “Our customers increasingly understand the value of what we’re doing. It’s so rewarding to know that a slot at our play den has now been incorporated into so many of our regulars’ weekly routine.”
Nicola added that its team of staff – all local to Altrincham – had felt privileged to witness so many children’s “firsts”.
‘We have had many children walking for the first time as they reach out to push their little buggy to the grocery shop, feed a badger or brush a hen,” she said.
“Often, parents share with us stories about their children being too self-conscious to play dress up until they walk through our doors. Children come here and feel at home, confident to explore their interests and identity. It’s all down to the wonders of imaginary play and we can’t wait to see how the business continues to grow over the next year.”
