A driver and a passenger had a lucky escape after their car landed upside down in a ditch close to the Bowdon junction on the M56.
An air ambulance, paramedics, traffic officers and officers from Cheshire Constabulary were called to the scene shortly after 3.30pm on Saturday.
They discovered a car lying on its back in a field just off the M56 motorway, between Junction 8 (Bowdon) and Junction 9 (Lymm).
North West Motorway Police said a “very lucky driver and passenger” had been discovered with only minor injuries.
They added: “The original report stated that a car had left the network and landed upside down, in a ditch.
“We had help from Air Support to locate the vehicle – minor injuries only. The driver is being taken to hospital for full check up.”
A lane was closed on the westbound side of the carriageway while the incident was dealt with by the emergency services.
