The family of a man who died following a collision in Hale have paid tribute to “well-loved husband, father, son, brother and grandson” who would be remembered for his “beautiful soul”.
Father of two Paul Rothwell, 30, was pronounced dead at the scene on Whitecarr Lane on Friday after his red Kawasaki motorcycle collided with an oncoming black Volkswagon Caddy.
Paul worked as a Site Reliability Engineer for Manchester Airports Group, which his family described as his “dream job”.
Paying tribute to him, his family said: “Paul was greatly loved and will be missed by all who knew him. He was a well-loved husband, father, son, brother and grandson.
“Paul set himself very clear goals in his adult life which landed him his dream job – programming for Manchester Airport Group. His inspiration for this was being able to provide a better life for his family.
“He was very passionate about technology, both inside his work setting and as a hobby, and always had lots of projects on the go.
“He would always go out of his way to help his family and friends and nothing would ever be too much trouble.
“He will be remembered for his infectious humour and beautiful soul.
“Paul sadly leaves behind his wife, Tilly – who he married in 2012, and their two young children.”
The investigation into the collision is ongoing and police are continuing to appeal for information.
Sergeant Matt Picton, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “As our investigation continues, our thoughts remain with Paul’s family and friends – it is a devastating time for them.
“I would like to use this opportunity to further appeal to anyone with information or dash cam footage which may assist us with our enquiries to get in touch with us.”
