Police are appealing for information after an 80-year-old cyclist was seriously injured in a collision with a car on Charcoal Road.
Police were called to reports of a collision involving a Fiat 500 and a bicycle close to the Dunham Road junction at 3.40pm yesterday afternoon.
The cyclist, an 80-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway.
The incident required a large emergency response and an air ambulance was called to the scene. Traffic in the area was brought to a standstill into the early evening while the incident was dealt with.
PC Peter Cunningham, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “First and foremost, our thoughts are with the man as he receives treatment in hospital.
“Enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the collision and I appeal to anyone with information or dash cam footage to contact us.”
